Letterwinners' Pirate Club Chapter
The Letterwinners' Chapter of the Pirate Club is comprised of former Pirate student-athletes who are members of the Pirate Club. The new Letterwinners' Chapter will fall under the guidelines of our Pirate Club Community Chapter structure. This chapter will have goals to attain in membership count and annual fund contributions, as do Pirate Club Community Chapters.
During the year, the Letterwinners' Chapter will plan friend-raising events and work on a fundraiser. The number one goal of Letterwinners' Chapter members will be to get their former peers to join the Pirate Club and to get reconnected to Pirate Athletics.
Jim Bolding is the Chapter's President. Jim was an All-American defensive back for the Pirates under former Head Football Coach Pat Dye.
The Letterwinners' Chapter of the Pirate Club will have a working board and Pirate Reps representing all sports from the different ECU coaching eras.
There's a new team in town. This organization of former student-athletes is now close to 500 strong. These Pirates were proud to wear the Purple and Gold and are giving back in time and support to help make the Pirate Club stronger than ever. If you are a former student-athlete we encourage you to join your peers as a member of "The Team Behind The Teams." If East Carolina is on our uniforms we want to be the best we can be. You can make a difference!

Basketball Letterwinners Day was held Saturday March 1 in conjunction with the Pirates taking on Houston. The Pirate Letterwinners and their families gathered for a social and enjoyed a wonderful meal provided by Outback Steakhouse. Following the social, Pirate Club members had a chance to see former men's ECU basketball players and give them a wonderful ovation. They were introduced by Athletic Director Terry Holland in Harvey Hall before the game.

Vince Colbert was the first African-American student-athlete
to receive a scholarship to play both basketball and baseball for the Pirates.
He received a rousing ovation from the basketball letterwinners and the Pirate fans.
The day concluded on a very positive note as the Pirates defeated Houston 84-83. It was an honor to have our Basketball Letterwinners back with us and the Pirate Nation appreciates all they have done for the Purple and Gold.
Many special thanks to Coach Mike Steele, Curt Vanderhorst, Garrett Blackwelder and Jerry Woodside in helping make this annual event a success.

Basketball Letterwinners attending with Athletic Director Terry Holland include

On April 29, 2007, the Letterwinners Chapter of the Pirate Club hosted its Annual Cookout for Pirate Student-Athletes. Over 300 Student-Athletes, Pirate Letterwinners and Staff were in attendance. We are so grateful for the delicious food provided by Uncle Yammy (Steve Johnson) and his staff. We’d also like to thank Pirate Club Letterwiners Chapter President Jim Bolding for his constant leadership and support.
The men around the cooker are from L-R Rick Bennett, Jimbo Walker, Uncle Yammy (Steve Johnson), and Will Williamson.
