About the ECU Pirate Club
The East Carolina University Educational Foundation, Inc., better known as the Pirate Club, is the backbone of financial support for ECU Athletics. Funds raised by the Pirate Club from alumni, fans and friends, go to help fund scholarships for Pirate student-athletes, athletic facility improvements and other programmatic needs for the university's Division I athletic program.
Athletics at East Carolina University receives no tax money whatsoever for any phase of its operation. All gate receipts, television revenue, and other income generated by athletic events (football and men's basketball) are used to meet the day to day operating expenses of the 21 varsity sports we now support. Without the financial support provided by the Pirate Club, the successful athletics programs we now enjoy would not be possible.
Pirate Club members enjoy a number of benefits including priority seating in purchasing football and men's basketball tickets and post-season game tickets; private and semi-private parking for home games; use of Pirate Club facilities; a 12-issue newsletter; and the opportunity to attend special meetings and functions with ECU coaches and athletic administrators.
Members also receive a sense of ownership in the successes experienced by the Pirate Athletic program and satisfaction form the investment made in the lives of young men and women, who represent East Carolina University so well on and off the playing fields.
